Plan B

Sold out? What to do next

Cancellation alerts, second chances, and somewhere else to sleep.

Some of these are affiliate links: this site may earn a small commission if you book or buy, at no extra cost to you. How that works

Popular dates at the big Mountain West campgrounds can go within minutes of opening. Missing the release isn't the end: people cancel, and those sites go back on the booking system one at a time.

1. Set a cancellation alert

Start with Campflare, which is free and sends email or text alerts when a site opens up. If you want more frequent scans and text alerts, Campnab is a paid option.

2. Use the second chance

Angels Landing has a day-before lottery every day (12:01 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mountain). Rocky Mountain released more timed entry reservations at 7 p.m. the night before in 2026, and entering before 9 a.m. or after 2 p.m. needed none.

3. Try first-come season

Some campgrounds go first-come, first-served off-season: Devils Garden in Arches from November through February, and Moraine Park in Rocky Mountain once summer camping ends (October 19 in 2026).

4. Stay nearby instead

Each campground and permit page has a lodging map.

What never works

Booking bots and resellers. Reservation systems ban automated booking, and the Havasupai Tribe prohibits permit resale or transfer. This site never books for you and never checks booking sites automatically.

Get the reminder by email

One email the week before the big Mountain West dates (each Angels Landing seasonal lottery, Havasupai's on-sale day, and Rocky Mountain's first timed entry release once it's announced). Nothing else.

Before any reminder, you'll get one email asking you to confirm. It comes from New England Reservations (hello@newenglandreservations.com), our sister site. Unsubscribe anytime. See the privacy policy.
